Floating candles

Floating candles, as the name suggests, are intended to be placed within water. To handle this application, they are generally created with a low and stable profile. Many will also exhibit a slightly convex base to better remain afloat. It is also important for these styles to core burn. This discourages their wax from leaking into the water.

Despite the general similar shape requirements placed on floating candles, there is a lot of variety in their designs. The most basic shapes are simple ovals. Other more standard choices include dome and heart shapes. Plenty of more elaborate designs also exist, including ornately sculpted flower patterns.

Floating candles are a great choice for centerpieces. The elegant contrast between water and fire creates a wonderful and elemental atmosphere for weddings, romantic dinners, or calming periods of meditation. The subtle movement of the flames are beautifully complimented by the leisurely movement the individual flambeaus make through the water.
