Candles
Candles are created from a variety of materials. Today, paraffin is the most common material used. This option is created from crude oil. For that reason, it is not the most eco-friendly of all alternatives.
Other resources from which candles may be made include beeswax, soy, and other plant waxes. Occasionally, they may also be created from tallow. This is a by-product which results from the rendering of beef-fat. Finally, a person may purchase gel designs. These are created from a mixture of paraffin and plastic.
Originally, candles were created as a source of light. In a more minor way, they may also be used for heat. Today, however, they are more commonly chosen for their ability to provide scents. Their lighting is usually valued for creating an atmosphere rather than promoting visibility.
